At present, there is no doubt that battery is the most core and key component in electric vehicles. Battery not only determines the performance and range performance of the vehicle, but also affects the life and safety.Therefore, both the vehicle factory and the battery factory need to conduct a comprehensive test of the battery, so as to truly understand the battery and use the battery well.
The purpose of battery testing is generally for two reasons:
1. To understand the characteristics of the battery (starting from the battery itself) : we need to pass the test to know battery capacity, internal resistance, voltage characteristic, ratio, temperature characteristic, cycle life, energy density and so on important parameters, need both of these parameters to demonstrate whether the measured battery has reached the original design goals, also need to pass these parameters in the process of using the battery to achieve a better management and control.
2. Assess the ability of the battery to meet the requirements (from the perspective of application scenarios) : This kind of testing can be understood as the backward deduction of the characteristics that the battery should meet from the perspective of application requirements, and verify whether the tested battery meets the standards through testing.For example, the OEM will design battery cold start tests based on low-temperature driving scenarios, energy efficiency tests based on power consumption indicators, and power performance tests based on vehicle climbing or acceleration scenarios.In addition, from the perspective of vehicle safety, tests such as overcharge and over discharge, short circuit, over temperature, extrusion and puncture will be designed.
